Your Emirates ID will soon be used as proof of residency in the UAE. As officials increase up services supplied to residents in the nation, residence visas will no longer be stamped on passports starting next week.

The measure basically cuts the number of processes necessary to get or renew residence papers in half. This allows for the renewal of both a resident visa and an Emirates ID in one application, rather than two separate processes as is now the case. So far, this is all we know.

Visa stamping is the final step in the visa application process, according to the present system. The applicant leaves his or her passport at the immigration office for the pink-colored sticker to be stamped when all essential paperwork have been written out.

Beginning Monday, April 11th, Proof of residency will be accepted in the form of an Emirates ID.

Does the Emirates ID have all of the necessary information?

The ID contains all pertinent residency-related information, according to a circular published by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security.

All of the information provided on the resident visa sticker is included on the current generation of Emirates ID cards given to expats.

When an expat enters the UAE with an entrance permit or a visit visa, he or she is awarded a resident visa.

“Applicants for a residence visa must be 18 years old or older and pass a medical exam to demonstrate that they are medically fit. According to the UAE Government website, they must also pass a security check and apply for an Emirates ID card from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

The applicant’s passport is stamped with a resident visa sticker at the conclusion of this process.

The stamps would only be accessible through the authority’s smart application, according to Major-General Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, acting director-general for Foreigners Affairs and Ports. This will aid in the transition from the usage of residence stamps to the use of the Emirates ID.

Airlines will be permitted to do this, according to the circular. A passport reader can be used to do this. The circular will be sent to all stakeholders to inform them of the change.

Job seekers, investors, property owners, dependents (family members of valid visa holders), university students, and retirees are all eligible (special cases).
