Chennai Super Kings VS. Kolkata Knight Riders:  With Dhoni stepping down as captain and handing over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer being appointed as  Kolkata Knight Riders new  captain , we had two new captains competing in the opening match of IPL.

For Chennai Super Kings it was all about MS Dhoni. Though jadeja tried hard but it was not enough. But the good news for Chennai Super Kings is that MS Dhoni is back in form. Ms Dhoni achieved a unique record as he slammed a brilliant 50 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening game of tata IPL 2022. MS Dhoni became the oldest Indian player in the history of the tournament to score a half century.

 Kolkata Knight Riders had an amazing balling display and Umesh Yadav topped the list who was later named the man of the match. His blow was swinging and when Umesh’s ball swings he is just a doubly dangerous bowler.

The nerves were settled By Kolkata Knight Riders by opener Ajinkya Rane who Scored 44 of 34 balls thereby ensuring a solid start for Kolkata Knight Riders.  It was a great start for new Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer. Sheldon Jackson an Indian wicketkeeper has an amazing day behind the stumps. He was lightning fast to dismiss Robin Uthappa. You must see to believe it.

Match 2: Delhi Capitals vs. Mumbai Indians

 Venue: Brabourne – CCI

Time: 3.30 PM

Result:  Delhi Capitals won by four wickets.

Player of the match: Kuldeep Yadav (  Delhi Capitals).

 Delhi Capitals vs. Mumbai Indians:  Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma Taking on Rishabh Pant on Sunday Afternoon . 

The atmosphere was electrifying. It was a perfect example of a match not being won till the last ball is bowled. With Ishan Kishan being the highest paid IPL cricketer this season , he didn’t disappoint at all. He played an amazing innings   of  81 of 48 balls.He played an attacking innings. But his innings went in vain.

The way Kulddeep Yadav can bowl even on a flat track is not unknown. His heroics were repeated once again at Brabourne – CCI. a must match for all future generation spinners.

 Delhi Capitals started the game well but Murgan Ashwin brought Mumbai Indians back into the game. Axar patel and Lalit yadav not only brought them into the game but stunned Mumbai Indians by winning the game.  It was a double blow for Mumbai Indians as they lost the match and also Rohit Sharma was fined for slow over-rate.

Match 3:  Punjab Kings VS. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Date:  27.3.2022

Venue: DY Patil Stadium

Time:7.30 PM

RESULT:  Punjab Kings won by 5 wickets

Player of the Match: Odean Smith ( Punjab Kings)

It was raining runs at DY Patil stadium on Sunday evening. It was all about runs and some record breaking performances. With virat kohli stepping down as captain and handing over the reins to faf du Plessis being appointed as the new captain and Mayank Agarwal being Appointed as the captain of Punjab Kings.

 Faf du Plessis  played a  smashing innings of 88 runs of 56 balls. But his efforts went in vain.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore made 205 runs. With 205 runs they were quite confident of defending.As you know, catches win matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore dropped Odean Smith at 10 runs and then the rest is history.

 Though full marks to Royal Challengers Bangalore for trying hard but Punjab kings were proved to be better team on that day. It was a tough day for bowlers. They made a record of conceding 45 extras in the innings by both the innings which was the highest by any team in IPL history. With Punjab Kings winning their first encounter they were in a great mood for celebration. But something was missing. Fans were missing bollywood star preity Zinta in the stands cheering for Punjab Kings.
