Best friend’s wedding all events outfits

After almost 2 years of life in quarantine, with nowhere to go, no outings, no get together, just being inside the four walls of our rooms, people may now finally get allowed to move out and about. It felt a nice change of pace to get some fresh air. Some people, being apart for so long, couldn’t wait to be together forever. And this December brought with it auspicious time to get married, which resulted in a lot of weddings for us to attend. So when one of my best friends announced that he is also getting married, and soon, I didn’t have much time to decide on what to wear because to be honest more than half of it was spent on being shocked and planning his bachelors. It’s always so confusing about dressing for occasions and weddings, and more so when it is one of your best friends who are getting married, and you have to attend all the functions. Ugh, the dance practice for his sangeet was fun, but only because we spent most of the time laughing at him because he couldn’t dance. Which also took most of our time and gave us little to decide on our outfits. And wearing an ethnic gown or an anarkali dresses is a little mainstream. So to make it a little easier and give you an idea about what to wear at your friend’s wedding or any other, so that you don’t go crazy as I did, I will let you in my wardrobe for this particular event. ‘Kay, let’s dress.e and dress up.

    Sangeet

Starting off with the first and (sometimes)foremost event. One thing you want to keep in mind is you want something you are very comfortable in because you will at some point have to dance and if you are uncomfortable it can mess with your very cool dancing-moves. So be comfortable as much as you can and yet not compromise on the style. So what I wore was a simple blue and white printed cotton dhoti and matched it with a pretty white and silver blouse. Paired it with long silver earrings, silver bangles (not too many), and a small diamond nose-ring to finish off the look. It doesn’t really matter if you wear heels or flats as long as they match your outfit, but if you are wearing dhoti like me, then embellished bellies shoes are the best options.

    Haldi

This is an event things might get dirty. So keep in mind that you don’t want to wear a new and light colored dress unless you don’t mind it getting stained. Because chances are there, it will. My poor friend, not only covered in haldi, but also sprayed with a snow spray by his cousins. This is the event you can opt for anything. The best thing you will want to wear is something yellow. Or something in those lines. Even a simple yellow gown does the job. Something that won’t show the stain much, and something you might’ve worn before. Again, this can change if you rather not repeat an outfit. I wore a purple Patiala dress with an orange dupatta. Some golden kada or bracelet, and diamond/orange earrings.

    The Wedding

To be honest, this is where you wear a pretty ethnic gown if it is just another wedding. But if it is your best friend, you have to put in some work. So I wore a pink lehenga with some golden work, paired it with golden earrings and golden and red bangles. Finally, finishing the look with a small golden nose ring and golden heels. There is not much movement to do at the wedding, so you can compromise with the comfort just a tiny bit.

    The Reception

The final event of this wedding, when you probably are going to take a lot of pictures, and which is mostly an evening event. You might want to look pretty and elegant and, as you always do, beautiful, which won’t be an issue. You can wear a lehenga or a western gown or saree. I opted for a satin silk coffee brown saree which was light and easy to carry, with a velvet embellished blouse, black wedges heels. Accessorized with brown velvet bangles and copper earrings. It would look something like this. Pardon my pose, I was a little occupied enjoying a good pani puri.

All in all, just one thing to keep in mind, don’t be scared of mixing your wardrobe. You never know when you might work up a show-stopper(wink-wink). Remember to be comfortable and dress up.
