We are going to share some information related to most expensive players of all the season. There have been fourteen seasons of the IPL tournament. The current IPL title holders are the Chennai Super Kings, winning the 2021 season. The venue for the 2020 season was moved due to the COVID-19 pandemic and games were played in the United Arab Emirates. Now we are back to our normal schedule in India. Enjoy.

2008:
MS Dhoni ( Chennai Superkings) : MS dhoni the Indian wicketkeeper batsman and the world cup winning captain in 2007 was not a surprise atall to be the highest paid cricketer in IPL franchise then. Even Sunil Gavaskar calls him the captain cool of India. Chennai super kings bought him in the 2008 IPL auction for ₹ 9.5 crore. He didn’t disappoint the franchise by reaching the finals in the 2008 season itself though they lost the final match. During the 2008 edition, Dhoni amassed 414 runs in 16 matches at a healthy strike rate of 133.54 and an average of 41.40.
2009:
Andrew Flintoff (Chennai Super Kings) and Kevin Pietersen (Royal Challengers Bangalore) : Andrew Flintoff known for his all around abilities was considered to be one of the most valuable assets in 20-20 cricket. Chennai Superkings purchased him for ₹ 9.8 crore. But unfortunately due to knee injury he was ruled out of the 2008 edition. Kevin Peterson, one of the classy England’s batsmen, was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹ 9.8 crore. But he had a difficult season with the bat for Royal Challengers Bangalore, scoring only 93 runs in six matches.
2010:
Shane Bond (Kolkata Knight Riders) and Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians): Shane Bond is one of the great fast bowlers. Known for his fast bowling he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹ 4.8 crore. Shane Bond played 8 matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2010. The legendary Kiwi speedster made an impact as clinched 9 wickets at a decent economy rate of 7.22. Kieron Pollard is one of the most evolving all rounders. He is known for his power hitting. He can hit sixes for fun. Kieron Pollard became an MI regular after 2010, playing a key role in the franchise winning four titles.
2011:
Gautam Ghambhir ( Kolkata Knight Riders): Gautam Gambhir had a terrific run in 2011 ICC Men’s world cup. He played a crucial role in what turned out to be an emotional outing for 2011 world cup winners, India. He was just connecting the ball too well. He played a match-winning 97 off 122 balls in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹14.9 crore. Gambhir led the side to its twin titles in 2012 and 2014. Gambhir was also one of the key batsmen for the franchise with over 3000 runs.
2012:
Ravindra Jadeja ( Chennai Super Kings): Ravindra jadeja is a very effective bowling all rounder for India. He had big shoes to fill, one of the best Indian spin bowlers Anil Kumble. But MS Dhoni’s backing helped him a lot. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹ 12.8 crore. He was a part of the Rajasthan Royals in the first two editions and now he is the captain of Chennai Super Kings.
2013:
Glenn Maxwell (Mumbai Indians): He was not a very famous cricketer by then. Mumbai Indians purchased him for ₹ 6.3 crore. Though Mumbai Indians won their maiden title that year, Glenn Maxwell managed to score only 36 runs in three matches. The following year, Maxwell played for Kings XI Punjab and smashed a phenomenal 552 runs in 16 matches at an astounding strike rate of 187.75 and an average of 34.50. The Punjab-based franchise paid a hefty ₹10.75 crores for him to play in IPL 2020.
2014, 2015:
Yuvraj Singh (Royal Challengers Bangalore): when we talk about Yuvraj Singh one just cannot forget his six sixes against Stuart Broad. That’s one innings which as an Indian it makes us really proud. Yuvraj though known as a hard hitter his fielding is not unknown. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹ 14crore. He did a good job with the bat and scored a total of 376 runs in 14 matches at an average of 34.18 and an impressive strike rate of 135.25. He also smashed three fifties in the 2014 season. Yuvi also contributed with the ball and made 5 scalps in the tournament. Yuvraj’s impressive performances in the 2014 edition meant that he will earn a handsome sum in IPL 2015 as well. This time, the lanky all-rounder received ₹16 crores from Delhi Daredevils. He is the only Indian player in IPL history to be the most expensive buy twice in a row.
2016:
Shane Watson: (Royal Challengers Bangalore): Shane watson is known for his fast bowling. He is a batting all rounder. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹ 9.5 crore. He has played some match winning knocks for Cricket Australia. However, he managed only 179 runs in 16 matches with the bat that season, though he had better bowling returns with 20 wickets while he also registered his best career figures in the IPL with 4/29.
2017, 2018:
Ben Stokes: (Rising Pune Supergiant): Ben Stokes is an amazing all rounder. In IPL the contribution of all rounders is very vital. He is often said to be a player with an X factor in him. He tries till the very end. He justified his place also in that season by scoring 316 runs in 12 matches at a phenomenal strike rate of 142.98 and an average of 31.60. He was also potent with the ball and made 12 scalps in as many matches at an economy rate of 7.18, returning with best figures 3/18. Rising Pune Supergiant reached the final of IPL 2017 and Ben played a crucial role in their splendid run. They fell agonizingly short of winning the title as they lost to Mumbai Indians by 1 run in the summit clash.having won the most valuable player he was in for big money and was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹ 12.5 crore.
2019:
Jaydev Unadkat (Rajasthan Royals) and Varun Chakravarthy (Kings XI Punjab): Jaydev Unadkat was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹ 8.4crore. It left the fans in shock for the amount of money spent on Jaydev Unadkat. Unfortunately, he had a poor season; he claimed just 10 wickets in 11 matches at a poor economy rate of 10.66. Varun Chakravarthy, who was not well-known earlier, got a surprise bid of ₹8.4 from the Kings XI Punjab. The Karnataka-born all-rounder failed to make an impact and played just 1 match for the Punjab-based franchise in which he clinched 1 wicket at an economy rate of 11.66.
2020:
Pat Cummins (Kolkata Knight Riders): He was bought byKolkata Knight Riders for ₹ 15.5 crore.Pat Cummins is currently the captain of the Australian Test cricket team.He is a fast bowler and hard hitting right-handed batsman. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹ 15.5 crore. In April 2022, Cummins tied the record for fastest half-century in the Indian Premier league in IPL 2022, scoring 50 runs in 14 balls against the Mumbai Indians. He shares this record with KL Rahul.
2021:
Chris Morris Rajasthan Royals: Chris Morris is a fast bowling all rounder for south africa. He plays some valuable innings bottom down the order. He is an excellent all rounder, a must have for all IPL teams, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹ 15.5 crore. A naturally gifted athlete, Morris is capable of turning a game of cricket around with both bat and ball. With the ability to crank up the speed gun while generating good bounce, and also some well documented hitting prowess, he makes for a genuine all-round option which is a must in IPL.
ISHAN KISHAN:
Ishan Kishan is one of the most promising wicket keeper batsmen in India. He is known for his hard hitting batting. Who can forget his amazing sixes in the 2020 IPL edition which made him win the most sixes award. His wicket keeping is improving day by day.
In 2022 Tata IPL he is the highest paid cricketer.In the 2022 IPL Auction, Ishan Kishan was bought by the Mumbai Indians for 15.25 crore. We wish him good luck for future matches..
